    More Options for Duplicate Handling

Unlike a lot of folks who want better duplicate handling to stop getting duplicate recordings, while I'd like to leave this handling on, there are some instances where I would like to have both shows recorded.

My example is back to back shows (two halves of a game) on the same channel, which my EPG provider schedules as two shows (and won't change it). So my wishlist/suggestion is to have the settings say:

"Avoid duplicates where possible except where:"

    Tick Box : Show2 starts within XXminutes of Show1 ending; Dropdown Options XX=15min, 30min, 45min, 60mins etc.

    and/or

Tick Box : Show2 is on the same Channel as Show1.

    cheers
    k.

If you've ever become frustrated because something in GBPVR or NPVR is not working, take a moment and consider this and this and this and this and this and this. Credit where credit's due; for one guy (with a wife and two kids), most problems are solved outrageously quickly. Patience.

I'm not sure you're asking about the right thing. What was the scenario that didnt work correctly?

That logic for avoiding duplicates only relates to unique ids in the database, which is typically only available in north america, and more recently in xmltv for user of EPG Collector. It doesn't apply to users of any other type of EPG.

Oh; In the example above, originally it did not auto-record the second half, and I thought that it had ignored it due to the TITLE of the show?

No, that app doesn't do any duplicate checking based on title or subtitle. This information cant really be used for this purpose.

If it didn't record it, then it'd come down to how it was scheduled. I can see it's listed as two shows. Did you schedule both shows? If it was a season recording (probably not), then it would have recorded both shows.

Isn't there some other kind of duplicate checking in the 90 minute window to make sure the same name/subtitle isn't recorded?

    No.

You're thinking of a timeslot season recording, where it'll recording any show with that name that starts +/- 90 minutes of the original recording that was used to create the season recording. If this was originally scheduled as this type of recording, both parts would have been scheduled.

Given it was a rugby game or South Africa vs Argentina, I'm guessing it was scheduled as a one-off recording, and jksmurf didn't notice his EPG had listed it as two separate parts, in which case both would need to have been scheduled.

Thanks. jksmurf that got me thinking, I seem to remember you used to use NEWA to auto record all your Rugby matches. Did you record those or was it NEWA?

NEWA, using AutoRecord on the text "Rugby Championship (L)" on that Channel.
But NEWA only got the first one, which is why I though the 2nd was being ignored due to duplicates.
