Have an (optional) timeout on the tv guide screen, so that if left on tv guide for say 15 minutes with no user input it drops back to the main menu. Main reason for me is then my clients would go to sleep.

Why dont your client's go to sleep when it's in the tv guide?
Because the guide is constantly updated, so the network traffic (I guess) is keeping them awake.
