    DVB-S Channel Unhandled Exception

    Dear all,

following on from niggles with a DVB-T channel,

I have issues with certain DVB-S channels. All Sony Channels in UK.

Now I am not sure if I should be able to get them anyway but they scan as unencrypted with NextPVR but when trying to watch them I get an unhandled exception error and have to force NextPVR to close....

    logs attached

    cheers

Mr Bumpy in case it was getting low on the list

Anyone any ideas? Specific to how NextPVR is handling a UK DVB-S channel?

This one has me v confused.......

    cheers

I am pretty sure the log entry

    EC_STILL_GOT_VIDEO (3)

indicates "Encrypted Content" which NextPVR blocks.

When I had this situation, sub asked for a sample. Does the channel play on an NMT?

    Hi Martin,

    thanks for reply as usual

Hope things well in your world.

NO, does not play via NMT as also on Server.

No problem, I do not need this channel, but would suggest that if it is unavailable far better that NextPVR scans it thus rather than throws an error after finding it unencrypted after a scan but encrypted when trying to play it?

Of course am sure I can provide a sample

    One for sub then?

    cheers

Unfortunately I'm 9000 miles from home right now, and not really in a position to do fault finding (cant open zip files on my iPad)

No biggie, just sifting through NextPVR niggles. Will bump again when you back home. 9000 miles now that is slightly further that just around the corner

Use iPad for more important things!

    cheers

I noticed having rescanned my channels the other day that one of these Sony channels scans fine but wont play. I just get a blank screen with "Encrypted channel" - or words to that effect. Doesn't crash, the system behaves fine in that I can change channels to a working one or exit live TV.

Looking at Kingofsat there seems to be no FTA Sony channels on 28.2E. However if you change the setting to include encrypted channels then four are found.

Can you name one and I'll have a look on a sky box to see if encrypted or not. What 'genre' are they as well (to help find it/them)

OK, I found four sony channels, Sony TV, Sony TV+1, Sony movies and Sony movies +1. They all say "insert Sky card" so it looks like they are encrypted.
