Does nDroid do any transcoding for live tv or recordings. I can not find any options regarding this. The players I have tried are having issues with stuttering. If I use Mxplayer to open a network stream with the following options it plays fine.

No it doesn't. I briefly looked at the ffmpeg port for Android with the idea of writing my own video player for nDroid but it was incredibly complex to implement. Perhaps for a future version when I have more time.Originally Posted by dark_half
At present, nDroid uses the original /live URL which doesn't transcode. The /transcode option was only introduced in 2.4.x (I think) and I'd need to add a 'Settings' option to nDroid to allow a user to set their resoultion/bitrate preferences etc. I intend to do this ideally for the next version of nDroid although that has been delayed due to other things getting in the way.The players I have tried are having issues with stuttering. That option only works for live tv (obviously) and the nDroid Service doesn't do any transcoding at its end for things like recordings / videos. I'll try experimenting with it when I get the time - I'd need to pick sub's brains first though to get an idea how he does it for live tv with the /transcode option.

Any progress on this. I would love to be able to use it for FarScape and Rome!
Not with the current version of nDroid. It's still a priority on the ToDo list though.
