NPVR 2.4.3 Recordings Fail to Stop

Hi Sub,

The system failed again and continued to record "The Daily Show" all night. The Record menu again said it ended at 11:30 pm, but recording services continued until manually stopped this morning. Also, this time it correctly recorded "Mad Men" at the same time as Daily and "The Colbert Report", which immediately followed Daily on the same channel. It also correctly record the "Civil War Journal" at 7:00 am the next morning. Comskip did not run on these, probably because of the hang up.

I just realized that the failed recordings occurred at the point where I shut off the TV monitor for the night. Could there be any connection?

These recordings were all made with the original version of nPVR with no difference in reliability. So, I'm reinstalling the patch I previously used.

This is getting to be a serious reliability issue. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not quite sure what the logs all mean, but it looks to me that my problem recording at 11:00 on 4/30 was started twice. The NRecord log shows only one instance of this recording stopping at 11:30. The log also indicates that live TV is running on the tuner it selected for recording another show at 7:00 the next morning. There was no live TV, only the recording that didn't stop, which was unknown in the database.

Could this be due to a duplicated recording schedule with nearly the same start times? I have experienced duplicates before, but the time difference was a minute or more and was clearly visible.

I am still intending to look at your problem - I've had the thread sitting open in a browser tab for a few days. Unfortunately I've been a bit short on time for investigating stuff over the last week. Busy with a rollout at work.

It looks like the stream count for the first analog device does not reset to zero when it fails

Thanks for your interest. Last night I repeated all my usual steps of shutting down, etc. But, I restarted the system about 5 min after the last show was due to stop and found that it failed again. I confirmed that only one tuner was recording the show and the same one was still recording after the system said it had stopped. So my theory about multiple recordings was proved wrong.
