DVD wont play newer dvds

Hi,
Ive noticed lately most of the newer DVDs aren't recognised by my computer. I have been borrowing a USB DVD rom which will read all the disks.
Now, thinking the problem was my old DVD rom couldnt read the copy-protection of the new disks, I bought a new internal DVD rom.
To my surprise it has the same problem.

Doe anyone know what might be causing this?

I think I may have the answer. The DVD rom had the region code set to 2 (europe). Now Ive set it to 4 (Australia).
