    @McBainUK

Regarding this, is the data collected by trailers manager saved anywhere or is it simply redone every time?
If it was saved, we could use wget (as suggested in the blog entry referenced in Davestrailers) in a post batch to download the trailers.
Or ICL itself could launch wget in runtime. A bit crude for sure, but would provide a quick patch/fix until a more elegant one is done.

EDIT: that's what I get for taking so long to finish my posts.... LOL talk about lagging behind

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "data collected" - what data?

Can you reproduce the Davestrailers blog post here? What does wget do?

edit: like I said, I havn't had a chance to look on the DavesTrailers site to see what's changed and broken ICLP.

wget is (basically) just a command-line downloader. If you specify the URL and he downloads it. What is interesting (for our purpose) is it's abiity to take a custom User Agent (such as "Quicktime 7.6.2") and relay that when downloading.

    So, for any given trailer we would execute: C:\>wget -U "QuickTime/7.6.2" http://site/trailer_filename.mov -O target_directory/target_filename.mov

I tried it, it works (switch is -U not -u, and -O not -o).

Anyway: relevant quote from blog entry
Direct download links for HD trailers on Apple are currently busted. From their tweet, it looks like the change was made to deal with the influx of user traffic/bandwidth for the Avatar trailer:

Adjustments made to support additional #Avatar teaser trailer traffic now live http://tinyurl.com/avatarteaser/ #avatarmovie
It looks like one of the adjustments they made was to only allow Quicktime to download the trailer. Any web browser will be automatically redirected to the Apple – Movie Trailers’ homepage.

If you have a download utility or are able to spoof the User Agent in your browser (i.e. User Agent Switcher for Firefox), you can still get around this.

The user agent my Quicktime uses is:
    QuickTime/7.6.2 (qtver=7.6.2;os=Windows NT 5.1Service Pack 3)

I’ve confirmed you don’t actually need the content inside the parenthesis: ()

Using wget, I was able to download the Avatar 1080p trailer with:
    wget -U "QuickTime/7.6.2" http://www.apple.com/movies/fox/avat...tsr_h1080p.mov

The Trailer Manager's index data is generated on each update (as Dave's Trailers page might have new trailers available).

    ------------------------

Can someone try the attached updater exe. It reports it's user agent as "QuickTime/7.6.2" . Based on the blog post copied quoted by Sykor this maybe all that's required to get the trailers working again.

No go. (exe's last modification date is 21 July - wrong exe uploaded perhaps?)

That is the right exe (see creation date).

Will look into it further and see what Apple's changed it how it broken the ICLP trailer downloads. Watch this space...

Version 8.0.8 now available on the wiki. Should fix the 24KB trailers problem.

Found an excuse to tweak, and for me confirm trailers now download in full, no more 24KB size weird stuff.

    Cheers
