Remote Access Viewing

This may not be the correct place for this question but here goes anyhow.

I just put a new-to-me headless client machine in the living room entertainment center. It's working like a champ but it does need attention from time to time. My preferred method is to use LogMeIn.com, a service that my IT guys use all the time to assist our company's remote users.

The problem I have is that the PVRX2 interface does not display using this remote access tool. To get anything done I have to launch Task Manager, kill PVRX2 and then I can do what needs done.

I'm sure there is a solution and that the folks at LogMeIn can help but I'd like to know more about how the PVRX2 interface is implemented.

I doubt that the DirectShow interface will be viewable using LogMeIn. It doesn't work with Remote Desktop either. I think VNC supports it but someone else would need to confirm (or deny) that.

It works with UltraVNC if you disable the the video driver hook. This slows it down noticeably though, but is usable for the times it is needed.

I found with mine that with hook driver off it would hang my 1920x1080 nvidia via hdmi system.

Wasn't a problem on my ATI x550 at 800x600 - pity though, I miss being able to get on there.

pvrx2 works for me via remote desktop from an xp pc to the vista server. the only problem is that you need to log the server in again when you have finished which is a royal PITA.

I stayed again from VNC during my new server build in case it may have interfered with the video playback (probably a baseless notion) but on my previous server I used ultra VNC sucessfully for a long time. Inf fact, I may just go away and install it again.

It looks like using Task Manager to kill PVRX2 when necessary is the easiest way to go. It's not that big a deal because the only time I need to poke around is when something has hung or is otherwise fouled up.

Hmmm. Now if I can figure out how to use the web interface tool ... I'm off to the WIKI now.
