I just realised I've got one of these in the jumble box.

Should it work with GBPVR to do channel changing? [hopes it has the same interface as the IR200L]

Unfortunately no, this device wont work. Only the Actisys IR200L is capable of producing normal remote control types of IR signal. All their other devices are only capable of producing IRDA signals, which unfortunately wont do the job.

D'oh!

I've googled for IR200L and UIRT in site:nz without any luck. Do you know of any NZ suppliers of a suitable IR device?

I actually got my IR200L from a guy in NZ, but I've long lost his email address (it was about a year ago). I think he originally posted about having some for sale on the MythTV mailing list, so you might be able to find him searching their archive.

I imported my USB-UIRT from the US.

OK, thanks.

I couldn't find that NZ guy, but both the devices manufacturers will ship to NZ for around US$50-$55 +$US25 shipping...

The UIRT looks a bit clunky, but has the additional 56khz sensor option.

Would you recommend one ahead of the other, for any reason, for use on NZ Sky decoders?

Cheers,
JohnO

PS: If anyone else in NZ wants one of these I'll order some extras.

The USB-UIRT is better. It can also act as a reciever. The reciever on the Actisys IR200L only works for about 6 inches, so is only any good for learning devices.

I'd go with the 56khz option just to be sure.

I havn't tried with Sky box, but I'm pretty sure it'd work.
