I have been looking at the following freeview cards:
Nebula DigiTV (http://www.nebula-electronics.com/information/info.asp?Code=0001)
and
WinTV Nova-T (http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_novatpci.html)
I understand that although these cards capture a digital MPEG2 signal and can record it to disk, GB-PVR does not support them. *What is required to allow GB-PVR to cope with them?

What is required? Probably not much.
Does anyone know what to of MPEG2 stream these capture, Program Stream or Transport Stream? If it produces a program stream, its likely to be relatively easy to get going, assuming that directshow components exist for these devices.

I have the nova-T, how can I tell which stream?
You might need to hunt for a utility that provides details on mpeg files. I dont know the name of one off hand.
I'm fairly sure there would be a utility on http://www.divx-digest.com/software/index3.html or one of their software pages to provide details about an MPEG2 file.

One of the ones I use is MpegAn (with MpegAn GUI). They can be found here (http://home.socal.rr.com/tateu/MpegAN.htm). I don't know if it handles transport streams or not. Be sure to get the GUI if you download it.

That looks like a pretty useful tool.

If you use MpegAn withou the GUI, you get LOTS of information. For that kind of detail, I like bbtools (http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/bbtools.html).

For WinTV Nova-T have a look at the SDK over at www.dvbcore.com if you make support for this do it as a freeware (open source? Yes, please!) or you will have to pay licence fee...
Best regards!

Acording to projectx, a file recorded with the Hauppauge Nova-T is:
Type: MPEG-2 PS/SS (Video/Audio PES)
